How to play
Goal
Land a word inside the target circle within five valid, unique guesses.
- How do I land a word?
- You have five valid, unique guesses to land inside the outer target circle with enough semantic signal. Type one word of 2–24 A–Z letters and choose Land it or press Enter. Case and outer spaces are normalized; internal spaces, punctuation and digits are rejected. Meaning determines the position; the mouse does not steer it.
- How do I read the path and target?
- Guesses appear in order and are joined by a path. Signal describes the connection to the anchors; closeness describes distance to the target. Neither replaces the win check: the landing must be within the inclusive outer radius and meet minimum signal. A strong guess can miss. The inner circle marks a bullseye, which is optional and grants no extra shot or point bonus. More than one word can solve a field.
- Which guesses spend a shot?
- The field uses an immutable bundled dictionary with fixed coordinates. It does not generate words or locations during play. Unknown words, malformed entries and repeated words spend no shot. An accepted unique word does spend a shot, even when its signal is weak.
- Why can a nearby word fail?
- A landing must also meet this field’s minimum signal. A weak dictionary word spends a shot but cannot win, even inside the target circle. Use the dominant anchor and the signal meter to choose a better-connected meaning.
- Why do the anchors change?
- Fields use three, four or five anchors. The tutorial uses its own animal fields; regular puzzles have other themes and targets. A word’s coordinates belong to its current field, so read the new arrangement. Every field retains the same five-shot and target rules.
- What are Daily, Random and Practice fields?
- Daily Field follows a UTC schedule. If unavailable, the package offers a Practice Field. Random Field selects another of the 30 reviewed fields. Modes keep separate saved paths. Portal Daily Deals and compatible challenges fix the reviewed field and remove Random Field during the attempt; their results can record solve, guess count and bullseye. Curio practice submits none of these results.
- What ends a field and what is recorded?
- A qualifying hit wins immediately. Five accepted misses end the field in a loss, including weak accepted words. No further guesses are allowed after the ending. There is no countdown or ordinary point target. Wins record guess count and bullseye. Enabled ranked Daily Fields can add rarity, First Hit and sharing; these do not change word locations or the local win check.
- Can I replay or start again?
- Replay Path shows the same guesses without spending shots. Restart Field clears the path and repeats the target. Random Field changes the field when available. Leaving a lesson discards only its practice path; completing it starts fresh normal play.
